WCOTF Chapter One Part One

     Flooding sunlight hit Cameron's eyes. She blinked them open, and then shielded them. Where... where am I? Cameron looked around. She was in a den of some sort. Piles of leaves, twigs, and other such stuff were in the corner. This is such a strange dream... or maybe... Cameron shuddered. Maybe I died.
     Footsteps. Cameron quickly turned around and pretended to be asleep.
     "She's moved. That's a good sign." Marshfern padded into the den. "Do you really think she is-" Toadstar cut Marshfern off.
     "She might hear us."
     They're keeping something from me...
     "Remember: When she wakes, be nice. And don't tell her..." Toadstar went down to a whisper, but Cameron could still hear it. "...that she's part of the prophecy."
     Cameron shuddered. A... prophecy... huh?
     "Will she see out of her left eye?" Toadstar asked.
     Marshfern groaned. "Yes! How many times have I told you this? The cut got her eyelid! Stop worrying about her!"
     A voice. "Toadstar! Help! Goldenkit is missing!"
     Toadstar whipped around. "Frostpelt! Get Sootwhisker!" He bounded out of the den, with Marshfern right behind him.
     "What about...?"
     "Leave her be! This is more urgent!" Toadstar chuckled. "And didn't you say I should stop worrying about her?"
     The cats bounded out of the camp.
     After a few seconds of silence, Cameron slowly opened her eyes. "What was that about?" She slowly got up. "I better get out of here. I don't know what's going on..."
     Cameron crept out of camp.
