CE: Fern's Greatest Adventure

     Fern blinked her eyes open to the new dawn. Today, though, was special; Cameron was going away for the whole day! Fern looked around. Cameron must have already left with his friend, Krissie, on her Miaron, Grassei.
     Fern yawned. She quickly got up and padded over to the closet. The lock was secure; she couldn't paint today. Fern sighed, and then she trotted over and looked out the window. A rainbow-colored Starling fluttered down and looked at Fern in surprise. Fern batted at the window, and the Starling flew off.
     I'm going to go outside, Fern declared. She pushed open the window, felt the wind on her pelt, and jumped down.
     She took off.
     Cameron has always told her not to go near the edge of the plateau. But today... Cameron wasn't around! Fern could do whatever she wanted! She pumped her legs faster. She wanted to go over to Kyler's house, but... he lives in the scary forest. Fern doesn't want to go there alone.
     A Chaos Ferret soared above Fern; the cinnamon-y color made Fern hungry. As the Chaos Ferret flew above her, the blue ribbon on its leg caught Fern's eye. She clawed at it.
     Her claw got stuck on the ribbon, and off she went!
     Fern yowled in surprise. The Chaos Ferret, scared at the noise, tumbled down onto the ground. Fern quickly unhooked her claw. Sorry.
     The Chaos Ferret flew off.
     Fern continued to walk. She was hungry; and she wanted to go home. Fern wasn't paying attention, and the cliff was coming up in front of her...
     A Pygmy Fawke in the distance saw what was going to happen...
     Fern tumbled, and then fell.
     She screamed as she descended down... then she stopped falling.
     She opened her eyes slowly, and was amazed at what she saw.
     The Alpha Pygmy Fawke had saved Fern. He slowly took her back over to her house.
     Fern quickly jumped into the window and she started to groom herself.
     The front door opened. "Wow, Fern! Amethyst is on the roof!" Cameron yelled. Fern smiled. She'd never tell Cameron what happened.
     It was hers- and Amethyst's- little secret.
